Beanwatch is a small coffee company from the beautiful town of Horgen on Lake Zurich. We have been running it since 2025 with the simple conviction that specialty coffee should be fun. Without airs. Without barriers. And with the feeling of always being on the sunny side.
Did you know that roasted coffee loses almost half of its aromas within the first month? And that supermarket coffee is almost always more than 3 months old before it even hits the shelf? We love the smell of freshly roasted coffee. And we love the variety of flavours. That’s why we roast your coffee ourselves. Your morning cup will thank you.
No espresso machine and no roaster can get more out of the coffee beans than the coffee farmer has put into them through hard work and skill. That’s why we only buy green coffee when we know who produced it. Just as you might be used to with good bottles of wine, you’ll always find the names of the producers on our labels.
If a coffee has natural sweetness, lively acidity and exciting aromas, then we want to roast it! Only specialty coffee beans can meet these requirements, meaning green coffee that scores at least 80 out of 100 points in blind tastings by certified tasters.
What is specialty coffee?
Joscha founded Beanwatch together with his wife Jennifer. After more than ten years as a passionate specialty coffee lover and author of “Kaffee Erlebnis Schweiz”, the idea grew in him to roast coffee himself and share the joy with others. Joscha holds degrees in business administration and economics and looks back on more than ten years as a digital marketing manager.
Jennifer has an extremely refined sense of taste. While some colleagues simply taste citrus during cupping, she picks out subtle nuances of mandarin seeds or orange peel. With her doctorate in social sciences, she brings structure and calm to the business. Alongside her management role at the University of Lucerne, she tastes and packs Beanwatch coffee.
