Beanwatch: A Perfectly Normal Coffee Roastery

Beanwatch is a small coffee company from the beautiful town of Horgen on Lake Zurich. We have been running it since 2025 with the simple conviction that specialty coffee should bring joy. Without airs. Without barriers. And with the feeling of always being on the sunny side.

Freshly roasted

Did you know that roasted coffee loses almost half of its aromas within the first month? And that coffee in the supermarket is almost always older than 3 months before it even hits the shelf? We love the smell of freshly roasted coffee. And we love the variety of flavors. That's why we roast your coffee ourselves. Your morning cup of coffee will thank you.

Know Your Coffee Farmer

No espresso machine, no roaster can get more out of the coffee beans than the coffee farmer has put into them through hard work and skill. That is why we only buy green coffee where we know who produced it. As you might be used to with good wine bottles, you will always find the names of the producers on our labels.
If a coffee has a natural sweetness, a lively acidity, and exciting aromas, then we want to roast it! These requirements can only be met by specialty coffee beans, meaning green coffee that scores at least 80 out of 100 points in blind tastings by certified tasters.

Dr. Jennifer Gewinner von Beanwatch Coffee

Jennifer (Tasting, Packaging)

Jennifer has an extremely refined sense of taste. While some colleagues merely detect citrus during cupping, she identifies subtle nuances of mandarin seeds or orange peel. The social scientist with a doctorate brings structure and calm to the business. In addition to her management role at the University of Lucerne, she also tastes and packages Beanwatch coffee.
